Benner et al reported prognostic factors for a patient with mycosis fungoides following large cell transformation (LCT). These can help to identify a patient who may or may not require more aggressive management. The authors are from Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands.
Patient selection: large cell transformation of mycosis fungoides
Prognostic factors:
(1) CD30 positivity on immunostaining
(2) extent of skin lesions
(3) extracutaneous lesions
(4) follicultrophic mycosis fungoides

where:
• Generalized = multiple skin lesions in more than 1 skin location.
• Age >= 60 years was a poor prognostic feature for a patient with skin lesions only.

= SUM(points for all 4 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 4
• The higher the score the worse the prognosis for the patient.
