Prognostic Factors in Extragastrointestinal Stromal Tumors

Description

Soft tissue tumors similar to gastrointestinal stromal tumors may occur in the soft tissue of the abdomen and retroperitoneum. The prognosis for these tumors varies from fairly benign to malignant. Certain histologic features can help identify the risk level for the tumor.

Histologic parameters studied using multivariate analysis:

(1) necrosis

(2) cellularity

(3) mitotic rate
