Description

The use of a mounting media to afix a coverslip may be associated with a number of problems.


Problems:

(1) omission (none used)

(2) air bubbles

(3) water contamination

(4) overflowing to the side and bottom of the slide

(5) presence on top of the coverslip

(6) insufficient amount, with failure to coat the entire coverslip

 

Media on top of the slide can stick to the objective lens if wet or interfere with the image if dried.

Causes of problems:

(1) mounting media that is too thick or thin

(2) human error

(3) excessive amount of media

(4) contamination

(5) slide dropped during transport
