Description

Moreau et al evaluated patients acute-on-chronic liver failure and reported the relationship between the leukocyte count and mortality. This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from multiple institutions in Europe.

Patient selection: acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF)

Parameter:

(1) leukocyte count in 10^9/L from 1 to 19

(2) prior history of acute decompensation

Group

28-Day Mortality

no ACLF

(0.001245 * (LC)) + 0.01763

ACLF with prior acute decompensation

(0.0007386 * ((LC)^2)) + (0.007477 * (LC)) + 0.225

ACLF with no prior acute decompensation
