Description

The PRISMA-7 score can screen an older adult for frailty or risk of dependency. The authors are from multiple institutions in Canada.


Patient selection: older adult >=65 years of age

 

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient in years

(2) sex

(3) number of health problems that limit activities

(4) need for assistance on a regular basis

(5) number of health problems that require staying at home

(6) number of people nearby that can help if needed

(7) use of a stick, walker, or wheelchair to move about

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7

• A score >= 3 indicates that the patient is at increased risk of frailty.
