PRINTO (Pediatric Rheumatology International Trials Organization) has reported criteria for clinically inactive juvenile dermatomyositis.
Patient selection: juvenile dermatomyositis
Findings associated with inactive clinical disease:
(1) serum CK <= 150 U/L (normal reference range 0 to 150 U/L)
(2) Childhood Myositis Assessment Scale (CMAS, range 0 to 51) >= 48
(3) Manual Muscle Testing in 8 muscles (MMT8, range 0 to 80) >= 78
(4) physician global VAS <= 0.2 (from range 0 to 10)
The original criteria for inactive disease used the presence of >= 3 of these criteria.
Some patients with active skin lesions may meet the original criteria despite the active skin lesions. These patients typically have a physician global VAS > 0.2. Almeida et al argue that the physician global VAS should be a requirement for inactive disease.
This modification would be: (physician global VAS <= 0.2) AND (>= 3 of original criteria met)
