The Prehospital Advanced Triage Method (ModeloExtrahospitalario De Triage Avanzado, META) involves a number of steps for triaging a trauma victim. The authors are from multiple institutions in Spain.
Patient selection: prehospital assessment
Parameters:
(1) initial stabilization problems (A, B, C, D, E = airway, breathing, circulation, disability, exposure)
(2) condition(s) requiring urgent evacuation for surgical assessment (UESA)
(3) priority based on most relevant severe injuries
Criteria for high priority:
(1) one or more most relevant severe injuries
(2) hemodynamic or respiratory instability
(3) one or more of the following:
(3a) systolic blood pressure < 110 mm Hg
(3b) motor GCS < 6
(3c) intubation
(3d) exposed to explosion in a confined space

A patient with UESA receives minimum prehospital prior to evacuation. All others are stabilized with evacuation based on priority. Stabilization includes control of hemorrhage.
