Patient selection: Leigh syndrome
Predictors of acute exacerbation and/or relapses:
(1) pathological signs at birth
(2) history of epileptic seizures
Predictors of poor survival:
(1) disease onset before 6 months of age
(2) failure to thrive
(3) brainstem lesion on MRI
(4) intensive care unit admission
