Description

Sanchez-Luengos et al evaluated factors impacting health-related quality of life in patients with Parkinson's disease. The presence of these factors can help to identify a patient who may benefit from interventions that will improve the quality of life. The authors are from University of Deusto, Biocrueces Health Research Institute, and Hospital of Galdakao in Spain.


Patient selection: Parkinson's disease (PD)

 

Predictors of reduced health-related quality of life:

(1) anxiety

(2) fatigue

(3) motor symptoms

(4) neurocognitive problems

 

Mobility, UPDRS-III, emotional well-being, bodily discomfort, and activities of daily living (ADL) were influenced by fatigue.

 

Social support, cognition and bodily discomfort were influenced by anxiety.
