Loh et al identified predictors for resolution of hypertension in a patient undergoing adrenalectomy for primary aldosteronism. The authors are from Changi General Hospital and Singapore General Hospital in Singapore.
Patient selection: primary aldosteronism, status post adrenalectomy, with preoperative hypertension
Parameters:
(1) duration of the hypertension in years (one of the components of the aldosteronoma resolution score)
(2) aldosteronoma resolution score (ARS), over a range from 0 to 5

duration of hypertension
<= 6 years

number of predictors for resolution of the hypertension =
= SUM(points for both parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 2
• The higher the score the more likely that the hypertension will resolve.
• Since the duration of hypertension is part of the ARS, one possibility is to prepare a modified ARS with additional points assigned to hypertension duration.
