Description

Carluccio et al evaluated patients with treated Cushing's disease for factors affecting the quality of life (AOL). The authors are from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Patient selection: treated Cushing's disease

Predictors of a lower QOL:

(1) persistent disease

(2) high body mass index

(3) depression

(4) anxiety (associated with female gender and lower age)

(5) longer self-assessed duration to recovery

Some comorbid conditions (cerebrovascular accident, androgenic effects, thyroid problems) might be expected to impact the QOL of some patients.
