Bozhkov et al reported predictors of preserved hearing after surgery for vestibular schwannoma. These can help to identify a patient with a better prognosis. The authors are from University Hospital Erlangen in Germany and the Medical University Vienna.
Patient selection: patient undergoing surgery for vestibular schwannoma.
Parameters:
(1) size of the tumor in mm (starting at internal auditory canal and extending to the cerebellopontine angle) using the Erlangen grading system
(2) anatomic extension, using the Koos grading system
