Prediction of a Parent's ABO Phenotype and Genotype If the ABO Phenotypes of the Other Parent and a Single Child Are Known

If the genotypes of a child's parents are known, then the possible genotypes for the child can be predicted based on the different gene combinations. Using all of the possible combinations, it is possible to infer one parent's ABO phenotype if the phenotype of the other parent and the child are known. Once the phenotype of the second parent is known, it is then sometimes possible to infer genotypes for the entire family.
