Causes of the dysfunction:
(1) muscle atrophy
(2) muscle ischemia
(3) scarring
(4) denervation
(5) inadequate muscle tension
Clinical features may include:
(1) temporomandibular joint pain
(2) impaired mastication
(3) restricted mouth opening
(4) painful mouth opening
