The post endoscopic submucosal dissection electrocoagulation syndrome (PEECS) may follow endoscopic submucosal dissection of a superficial lesion in the esophagus. It can usually be managed conservatively.
Patient selection: history of esophageal endoscopy with submucosal dissection without evidence of perforation
Clinical criteria:
(1) fever (>= 37.8°C)
(2) leukocytosis (WBC > 10,800 per µL)
(3) regional chest pain > 5 on a 10 cm VAS scale
