Description

Criteria for bleeding were reported in the PLATO study.


PLATO = platelet inhibition and patients outcome

 

Patient selection: antiplatelet therapy

 

Major life-threatening bleeding:

(1) fatal

(2) intracranial

(3) intrapericardial with cardiac tamponade

(4) hypovolemic shock or severe hypotension requiring pressors or surgery

(5) hemoglobin drop >= 5 g/dL

(6) transfusion >= 4 units of blood

 

Other major bleeding:

(1) significant disability (intraocular bleeding with vision loss, other)

(2) hemoglobin drop 3.00 to 4.99 g/dL

(3) transfusion >= 2 to < 4 units of blood

 

Minor bleeding:

(1) any other bleeding not designated major
