A person who is around venomous snakes may benefit from Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
In most situations the following is sufficient protection:
(1) ankle boots
(2) leather gloves
(3) metal rod or wooden stick
Reasons for additional precautions:
(1) period of maximum snake activity
(2) high density of venomous snakes
(3) highly venomous snakes
(4) prolonged exposure in rough terrain
(5) working with or studying snakes
Additional protection for ground snakes may include:
(1) knee-high boots
(2) snake gaters
(3) snake-proof chaps
(4) forearm protection
