Bleeding from Peptic Ulcer Criteria for Quick Discharge or Outpatient Treatment

Age of the patient

Number of severe comorbid conditions

Is the patient hemodynamically stable within 3 hours of presentation?

Hemoglobin after adequare resuscitation

Units of packed red blood cells transfused

Does the patient show any evidence of a coagulopathy?

Did the bleeding from the peptic ulcer start outside of the hospital?

Does the patient have adequate social support at home?

Can the patient return to the hospital promptly if the need arises?

Does endoscopy show either a clean ulcer base or no obvious findings?
