Description

Localized granulomatous lymphangitis can result in chronic penile and scrotal edema.


 

Clinical features:

(1) The patient presents with a relatively painless chronic edema of the scrotum and/or penis.

(2) Some patients may develop skin ulceration and/or inguinal lymphadenopathy.

(3) A biopsy may show noncaseating sarcoid-like granulomas:

(3a) in and around lymphatic channels

(3b) in the dermis or subcutaneum

 

Causes may include:

(1) lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV)

(2) granuloma inguinale

(3) Crohn’s disease

(4) Milroy’s disease

(5) trauma

(6) Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome

(7) possibly sarcoidosis
