Description

Rhee et al reported a risk score for evaluating a pediatric patient prior to surgery. These were divided into groups. The authors are from multiple Children's hospitals in the United States.


Patient selection: pediatric patient prior to surgery

 

Parameters:

(1) SLE or other connective tissue disorder

(2) crushing or internal injury

(3) shock

(4) drowning or submersion

(5) firearm

(6) motor vehicle or traffic accident

(7) suffocation

(8) suicide or intentional self-harm

(9) intracranial injury

(10) poisoning by nonmedicinal substance

(11) premature birth, low birth weight, or fetal growth retardation

(12) hypoxia, asphyxia, or aspiration during birth

(13) birth trauma
