Description

Rhee et al reported a risk score for evaluating a pediatric patient prior to surgery. These were divided into groups. The authors are from multiple Children's hospitals in the United States.


Patient selection: pediatric patient prior to surgery

 

Parameters:

(1) thyroid or other nondiabetic endocrine disorder

(2) diabetes mellitus

(3) septicemia (except in labor)

(4) HIV infection

(5) hepatitis

(6) meningitis or other CNS infection

(7) stupor, coma or brain damage

(8) acute cerebrovascular disease

(9) peritoneal abscess or peritonitis

(10) liver disease

(11) gastrointestinal hemorrhage

(12) leukemia

(13) lymphoma or reticuloendothelial neoplasm

(14) miscellaneous CNS or spinal neoplasm

(15) hepatic tumor

(16) primary tumor of bone or articular cartilage

(17) soft tissue sarcoma

(18) immune disorder not due to AIDS

(19) coagulation or hemorrhagic disorder
