Description

Rhee et al reported a risk score for evaluating a pediatric patient prior to surgery. These were divided into groups. The authors are from multiple Children's hospitals in the United States.


Patient selection: pediatric patient prior to surgery

 

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) peri/endo/myocarditis, cardiomyopathy or tamponade

(3) acute myocardial infarction

(4) coronary atherosclerosis or other ischemic heart disease

(5) pulmonary vascular disease (pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism)

(6) cardiac arrest, ventricular fibrillation or ventricular flutter

(7) aortic/peripheral/visceral aneurysm or dissection

(8) cardiac or circulatory congenital anomalies

(9) influenza

(10) COPD or bronchiectasis

(11) respiratory insufficiency. failure or arrest

(12) cystic fibrosis

(13) respiratory distress syndrome

(14) acute renal failure

(15) chronic renal failure
