Brogan et al reported the Pediatric Glucocorticoid Toxicity Index (pGTI). This is based on the Glucocorticoid Toxicity Index (GTI). The authors are from multiple institutions in England, the United States and Canada.
Patient selection: <= 18 years old on glucocorticoids
Subscores:
(1) skin toxicity subscore: from -72 to 72
(2) musculoskeletal and body subscore: -174 to 174
(3) metabolic and cardiovascular subscore: -111 to 111
(4) CNS and infection subscore: -160 to 160
total score =
= SUM(points for all of the subscores)
Interpretation:
• minimum total score: -517
• maximum total score: 517
• The higher the total score the greater the evidence for glucocorticoid toxicity.
