The Pediatric Crohn's Disease Activity Index (PCDAI) was developed for pediatric patients with Crohn's disease by the German-Swiss Study Group on Crohn's Disease in Children and Adolescents.
Parameters for index: 2 clinical and 4 laboratory findings:
(1) percent bands in differential count
(2) alpha-2 globulin as percent of total serum protein
(3) serum iron
(4) erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
(5) number of stools per week
(6) appetite

PCDAI =
= (1.3 * (percent bands in differential count)) + (4.1 * (percent alpha-2 globulin in total serum protein)) - (0.3 * (serum iron in µg/dL)) + (0.8 * (ESR in mm in first hour)) + (2.4 * (number of stools per week)) + (20.2 * (points for appetite)) + 49.7
Interpretation:
• minimum score: < 120
• maximum score: > 300
