Description

Tufano et al reported an equation for predicting peak power output by a young athlete during a vertical jump test. The authors are from the University of Houston Clear Lake and California State University.

Patient selection: adolescent soccer players, from 12 to 17 years of age

Testing: vertical jump test

Parameters:

(1) body mass in kilograms

(2) vertical jump distance in cm

peak power output in watts =

= (0.379 * ((mass)^2)) + (53.332 * (jump distance)) - 391.107
