Description

Lara-Sanchez et al reported an equation for predicting peak power output by an adolescent during a vertical jump test. The authors are from the University of Jaen in Spain and Manchester Metropolitan University in England.

Patient selection:boys and girls from 13 to 15 years of age

Testing: vertical jump test

Parameters:

(1) body mass in kilograms

(2) vertical jump distance in cm

(3) sex

peak power output in watts for boys =

= (37.1 * (weight)) + (61.8 * (jump distance)) - 1941.6

peak power output in watts for girls =

= (45 * (weight)) + (31 * (jump distance)) - 1045.4
