Locations where reported:
(1) tunica vaginalis or albuginea
(2) epididymis
(3) spermatic cord
(4) periorchitis (encasing the entire testis)
The lesion may be:
(1) single discrete
(2) multiple discrete
(3) diffuse
Histologic features:
(1) thickened and hyalinized fibrous tissue
(2) cellularity is low and may include myofibroblastic elements
(3) focal calcifications are common
(4) patchy chronic inflammation may be present
The clinical exam is often suggestive of a testicular malignancy. The lesions are typically indurated and painless.
Ultrasonography show the lesion(s) to be paratesticular with the testes normal.
Serum markers (alpha-fetoprotein, LDH, beta HCG) are normal.
