Nakamizo et al reported the PANDA score for predicting delirium in a patient who has had a stroke. The authors are from the Yokohama Brain and Spine Center in Japan.
PANDA is an acronym based on the 5 parameters for the score.
Patient selection: status/post stroke
Parameters:
(1) history of prior delirium (P)
(2) alcohol abuse (A)
(3) NIH stroke scale (NIHSS) (N)
(4) dementia (D)
(5) auditory and/or visual impairment (A)

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 5
• The higher the score the greater the risk of delirium.
