Description

Out-toeing usually develops due to intra-uterine positioning, and many affected children outgrow the condition as they get older.


Out-toeing refers to external rotation of the foot. It may be unilateral or bilateral, depending on the cause.

 

Reasons for out-toeing is one or more of the following:

(1) external rotation hip contracture

(2) external femoral torsion

(3) external tibial rotation

(4) calcaneo-valgus foot

 

Causes may include:

(1) intra-uterine positioning

(2) cerebral palsy
