Description

Cunningham et al reported the Orthognathic Quality of Life Questionnaire (OQLQ) for evaluating the quality of life for a patient with dentofacial deformity.


Items:

(1) self-conscious about appearance of teeth

(2) problems biting

(3) problems chewing

(4) avoid certain foods because of the way teeth meet

(5) avoid eating in public places

(6) pain in face or jaws

(7) do not like side view of face (profile)

(8) spend a lot of time studying face in a mirror

(9) spend a lot of time studying teeth in a mirror

(10) do not like having photograph taken

(11) dislike being seen on video

(12) often stare at other people's teeth

(13) often stare at other people's faces

(14) self-conscious about facial appearance

(15) try to cover mouth when meeting people for the first time

(16) worry about meeting people for the first time

(17) worry that people will make hurtful comments about appearance

(18) lack confidence when out socially

(19) do not like to smile when meeting people

(20) sometimes get depressed about appearance

(21) sometimes think that people stare at me

(22) comments about appearance are really upsetting even if joking
