Opsoclonus-Myoclonus-Ataxia Syndrome


Clinical features

(1) opsoclonus ("dancing eyes")

(2) cerebellar ataxia

(3) myoclonus

 

Differential diagnosis

(1) Paraneoplastic Opsoclonus-Myoclonus Syndrome (neuroblastoma and other tumors)

(2) infection (viral encephalitis, poststreptococcal, malaria, leptospirosis, other)

(3) drugs (cefepime, cyclosporine, rituximab, venlafaxine, other)

(4) autoimmune disease

(5) idiopathic

 

Viral infections associated with OMAS include:

(1) West Nile

(2) Chikungunya

(3) dengue

(4) HIV

(5) Japanese encephalitis

(6) enterovirus

(7) adenovirus

(8) rotavirus

(9) mumps

(10) HHV-6

(11) influenza

(12) Varicella-Zoster virus

(13) viral hepatitis C
