Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD, Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis) may develop ocular involvement during the course of their disease.


Types of ocular involvement may include:

(1) vasculitis (retinal or ophthalmic artery)

(2) iritis

(3) anterior uveitis

(4) episcleritis

(5) scleritis

(6) keratitis

(7) orbital pseudotumor


Complications may include:

(1) sudden loss of vision following thrombosis of vasculitic artery

(2) neovascular glaucoma

(3) retinal neovascularization
