Description

The oak leaf itch mite can cause a pruritic skin eruption.


Mite: Pyemotesherfsi

 

The mites may affect anyone near or under an oak tree, typically in warm weather.

 

Clinical features:

(1) intense pruritis

(2) erythematous skin lesions, including umbilicated papular eruptions and tiny vesicles

 

The mites are barely visible and so are easily missed.
