Description

Wu et al reported a nomogram for predicting 1-year survival after surgical repair of a hip fracture in an older adult. This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from Chia-Yi Christin Hospital in Taiwan.

Patient selection: adult >=50 years old with hip fracture

Parameters:

(1) age of the patient in years

(2) sex

(3) length of stay in days

(4) number of RBC transfusions

(5) hemoglobin in g/dL

(6) eGFR in mL per min per 1.73 square meters

(7) platelet count per microliter
