Description

Hu et al reported a nomogram for predicting inpatient mortality for an adult earthquake victim. This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management.  The authors are from Sichuan University in Chengdu.

Patient selection: hospitalized adult earthquake victim

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) respiratory rate in breaths per minute

(3) pulse in beats per minute

(4) diastolic blood pressure in mm Hg

(5) Glasgow coma scale (GCS)

(6) crush injury

(7) coronary heart disease

(8) malignant tumor

(9) chronic kidney disease

points for age =

= (0.42889 * (age)) - 4.2889

points for diastolic pressure =

= 100 - (0.5 * (diastolic pressure))

points for GCS =

=  75 - (5 * (GCS))

points for pulse =

= (0.3441 * (pulse))

points for respiratory rate =

= (1.0711 * (respiratory rate))
