Description

Fang et al reported a nomogram for predicting prolonged stay in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) following an elective surgery. The authors are from Zhejiang University, Ningbo Women and Children's Hospital, Shulan Hangzhou Hospital, and Yale University.

Patient selection: elective surgery

Prolonged PACU stay was defined as a stay greater than the third quartile.

Parameters:

(1) blood transfusion

(2) naloxone

(3) pain

(4) delirium

(5) chill

(6) PLOD (prolonged length of operation duration)

(7) level of surgery

(8) ASA status

(9) body mass index (BMI) in kg per square meter

(10) age in years
