Chen et al reported a nomogram for predicting recurrence-free survival for a patient with a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Southern Medical University and Sun Yat-sen University in China.
Patient selection: GI stromal tumor
Parameters:
(1) diameter of the tumor in cm
(2) site
(3) percent staining with Ki-67
(4) mitotic count per 50 high power fields

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 304.8
• The higher the score the greater the 5-year recurrence-free survival.

probability of 5-year recurrence free survival =
= 1 / (1 + EXP((-1) * X))
