Duarte et al reported the No-Apnea score as a screen for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The authors are from Centra Medico BarraShopping (Rio de Janeiro), Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Universidade Federal de Goias, Centro HospitalarLisboa Central, Universidade Nova de Lisboar and the University of Chicago.
No-Apnea is a mnemonic based on the first letter of the 2 parameters.
Parameters:

(2) age (A) in years

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 9
• A score >= 3 identifies a patient at high risk for OSA.
Performance:
• A score >= 3 had a sensitivity of 0.85 and specificity of 0.55 for AHI >= 5 events per hour.
• A score >= 3 had a sensitivity of 0.91 and specificity of 0.42 for AHI >= 15 events per hour.
• The area under the ROC curve is 0.78.
