Description

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Kidney Disease Outcome Quality Initiative (KDOQI) combined estimated glomerular filtration rate and level of proteinuria to stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). The stage of CKD can help guide management of these patients over time.

Patient selection: chronic kidney diseaes (CKD) with estimated glomerular filtratio rate >= 15 mL per min per 1.73 aquare meter BSA (with < 15 indicating end-stage renal disease or ESRD)

Parameters:

(1) estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) using the MDRDS equation, expressed as mL per minute per 1.73 square meter BSA

(2) level of proteinuria by dipstick or by albuminuria by the albumin-to-creatinine ratio
