Description

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) of the National Health Service (NHS) listed parameters that should be considered when developing a clinical guideline.

Parameters to consider when developing a guideline:

(1) overall synthesis of the evidence

(2) internal validity

(3) external validity (generalisability)

(4) consistency

(5) clinical impact

(6) cost-effectiveness

(7) ease and feasibility of implementation

(8) the patient's perspective

An effective guideline requires that all of these parameters be included.
