Description

Adhoute et al reported the NIACE score which was named for the five components. This can separate patients into two groups with different overall survival. The authors are from multiple hospitals in France.

Patient selection: advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (BCLC stage C), Child-Pugh stage A or B

Parameters:

(1) nodules (N)

(2) infiltrative tumor (I)

(3) serum AFP in ng/mL (A)

(4) Child-Pugh stage (C)

(5) ECOG (E)

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7

• A score <= 3 was associated with a better overall survival than a score > 3.
