A patient with hypoparathyroidism may present with a number of neuropsychiatric findings.
Neuropsychiatric fndings associated with hypoparathyroidism:
(1) anxiety
(2) depression
(3) change in personality
(4) psychosis
(5) poor memory
(6) reduced ability to concentrate
(7) pseudotumor cerebri
(8) Parkinsonsim
(9) chorea
(10) fatigue
(11) seizures
(12) paresthesias and numbness (perioral, digits)
Imaging of the brain may show symmetrical calcification in the basal ganglia and other parts of the brain.
