Chronic occupational exposure to solvents or petroleum distillation products such as jet fuel can result cause an organic brain syndrome, which may be manifested by neuropsychiatric symptoms.
Jet fuel is a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons and organic solvents.
Symptoms of organic brain syndrome with neurasthenia include:
(1) fatigue with mental and physical exhaustion
(2) anxiety
(3) mood changes including depression
(4) memory difficulties
(5) psychosomatic symptoms
(6) personality change
(7) reduced manual dexterity (clumsiness)
(8) peripheral neuropathy
