Description

Paget's disease of the skull can have a number of neuropsychiatric complications.


Neurologic complications:

(1) normal pressure hydrocephalus

(2) deafness

(3) headache

(4) brain stem dysfunction

(5) cerebellar dysfunction

(6) cranial neuropathies, including compression of the optic nerve

(7) myelopathy

(8) cauda equina syndrome

(9) radiculopathies

(10) spinal cord ischemia

 

Psychiatric complications:

(1) acute psychosis

(2) auditory hallucinations

(3) dementia (associated with normal pressure hydrocephalus)

(4) depression

(5) anxiety
