Superstition and magical thinking can be appealing but can have a number of negative impacts for a person and for a society.
Negative aspects:
(1) delay or refuse a change, therapy or intervention that would be beneficial
(2) exposure to an intervention that may be harmful
(3) may result in a person being manipulated or controlled
(4) may cause a person to give up or despair
(5) can result in harm to others or to animals
(6) can be expensive
