A patient with mycosis fungoides or Sezary Syndrome may have colonization of the lesions by Staphylococcus aureus.
Patient selection: mycosis fungoides or Sezary syndrome
Clinical features:
(1) chronic or recurrent colonization of skin lesions with Staphylococcus aureus
(2) heavy colonization is associated with a flare in disease activity and pruritus
(3) elimination of the colonization is associated with clinical improvement
The changes are more pronounced for patients with erythroderma.
