Description

Mycoplasma pneumoniae-associated mucositis (MPAM) is one of its extrapulmonary manifestations that is related to the Stevens-Johnson syndrome.


Criteria for Mycoplasma pneumoniae associated mucositis:

(1) infection with Mycoplasma pneumoniae

(2) mucositis (oral, ocular and/or urogenital)

(3) no, minimal or mild skin rash

(4) exclusion of alternative diagnosis

 

PCR for Mycoplasma can be helpful in making the diagnosis.
