Description

Garcia-Romero MT, Tollefson M, et al. Development and validation of the Morphea Activity Measure in patient with pediatric morphea. The measure consists of measuring activity in 7 body sites then summating into a score. The authors are from multiple institutions in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Patient selection: pediatric patient with morphea

Rules for scoring:

(1) if more than 1 lesion is present in a body region, then the most active lesion should be graded.

(2) the body surface area of all lesions in a site is used to calculate activity

Domains:

(1) new lesion

(2) enlarging over past 3 months

(3) progressive atrophy over past 6 months

(4) erythema

(5) violaceous rim

(6) warmth

(7) induration or edema (excluding sclerosis)

(8) white-yellow waxy appearance

(9) shiny white wrinkling

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 25 (theoretically; some are mutually exclusive such as enlarging and shrinking. It may be possible to combine the first 3 measures into one.
