The Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (TICI) scale shows the extent of tissue reperfusion following thrombolysis of an occluded cerebral artery. This was subsequently modified to use a threshold of more than half the target downstream territory (TDT).
Perfusion Through Previously Occluded Target Artery
Other Finding(s)
Grade
no antegrade reperfusion
NA
0
incomplete antegrade reperfusion
limited distal branch filling with little or slow distal reperfusion
1
incomplete antegrade reperfusion
less than half of previously ischemic territory
2a
incomplete antegrade reperfusion
more than half of the previously ischemic territory
2b
complete antegrade reperfusion
absence of visualized occlusion in all distal branches
3
Grades 2b and 3 are associated with better outcomes.
