Gonzalez-Cuevas et al modified the Status Epilepticus Severity Score (STESS) of Rossetti et al. The score is better at predicting mortality in patients with status epilepticus. The authors are from Vall d'Hebron Univerisity Hospital and Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona in Spain.
Patient selection: status epilepticus, age > 16 years
Outcome: mortality
Parameters:
(1) consciousness
(2) worst seizure type
(3) age in years
(4) history of previous seizures
(5) modified Rankin Scale (mRS)
